Amitriptyline (أميتريبتيلين) – Medical Description
Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) used to treat depression, anxiety disorders, and certain types of chronic pain. It works by increasing the levels of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain, which helps improve mood and relieve emotional tension.
In addition to its antidepressant effects, amitriptyline is often prescribed in low doses to manage neuropathic pain, migraine prevention, and sleep disturbances associated with depression or chronic illness.

Typical dosage forms: 10 mg, 25 mg, 50 mg tablets (oral)
Common side effects: dry mouth, drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, weight gain.
