(لورازيبام) Lorazepam is a benzodiazepine medication used to treat anxiety disorders, insomnia, acute agitation, and as a pre-operative sedative. It works by enhancing the action of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) — the main inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain — resulting in sedative, anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, and muscle-relaxant effects.
Lorazepam is considered a short- to intermediate-acting benzodiazepine, often preferred for short-term management of anxiety or acute stress and for seizure emergencies such as status epilepticus.
